Education & Outreach
Our lab approaches teaching and outreach similar to how we approach research, emphasizing field observations, lab experiments, statistical analyses, and data synthesis.

Courses
Undergraduate
Spring: EES 160 Geology for Teachers
Undergraduate/Graduate
Spring (even years): EES 480/630 Limnology and Limnogeology
Spring (odd years): EES 553 Global Climate and Environmental Change

Mentorship
Our lab is engaged in a variety of mentorship across career stage. PI Spanbauer and her graduate students work with undergraduates through the Departmental Honors program, EES 395: Special Problems in Geology, and Undergraduate Research Fellowships. PI Spanbauer also mentors M.Sc. students, Ph.D students, and postdoctoral researchers.

Outreach
Lab members are involved with a variety of community outreach and engagement. PI Spanbauer regularly participates in Skype-a-Scientist and outreach with the Girl Scouts of America. The lab also runs the ERIeDNA program, a community science focused environmental DNA collection campaign.
